Dear Fellow Rotarians,

The dedicated Rotarians of District 6940 are launching their 2008-09 plans to Make Dreams Real for the children of our world. Our Rotary International President Dong Kurn Lee, of Seoul, Korea, has asked us to focus our projects on reducing child mortality in the world. We will use our expertise in projects that will reduce child mortality by providing clean water, sanitation facilities as well as projects to fight hunger and improve literacy.

Your District Grants Chair Christine Isham ( crisdanish@gmail.com ) is working closely with District World Community Service Chair Carl Dickerson (cad_55@yahoo.com). They are busy identifying all service projects currently being planned by our clubs. They will use the information received from our clubs to assist them with their grants and finding other clubs within our district to become strategic partners on the various projects. Our clubs have $108,348 available as District Designated Funds at our Rotary Foundation for matching grants for your international projects to aid in reducing child mortality through literacy, clean water and sanitation, and health and hunger initiatives. This sum of money can become $216,696 when approved as an international project matching grant! What an impact we can produce through the “MAGIC” of our rotary Foundation! Thank you for all you’re doing!

Yours in Rotary service,
Ron Richards
